Welcome to the Okmulgee Board of Education

At Okmulgee Public Schools, our Board of Education is dedicated to fostering an exceptional educational experience for every student in our community. Comprised of passionate and committed individuals, the Board plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our schools and ensuring every child has access to high-quality education. These members bring diverse expertise, perspectives, and a shared commitment to student success. Together, they provide governance, guidance, and support to the district, working collaboratively with educators, administrators, and families to achieve our mission.

The Board welcomes community involvement and values your input! Attend a Board meeting, reach out to your representatives, or stay informed about district updates.  All meetings are held in the John Barksdale Board Room located inside the District Office.  Meetings Start at 5:30 pm on the second Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise noted on the District Schedule of Meetings. Thank you for supporting the mission of Okmulgee Public Schools.   • To be eligible to be a candidate for member of the board of education of a school district, the individual must meet the following requirements:

    1. The individual must have resided in the district for six months preceding the first day of the filing period and have been a registered voter registered within the county election board at an address located within the geographical boundaries of the election district for six months preceding the first day of the filing period.  26 O.S. § 13A-106.
    2. The individual cannot have been convicted of, or have plead guilty or no contest to, a felony under state or federal law or a misdemeanor involving embezzlement. Any person having a record of any of these crimes is ineligible to file for the school board position during the pending of any appeal or for a period of 15 years following completion of sentence.  (26 O.S. 5-105a)
    3. The individual must have been awarded a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency in order to be a candidate for or elected to serve on a board of education.  (26 O.S. 13A-106)
